Light Squared Satellite Services

As your MSAT Service Provider, Infosat wanted to pass along some important and exciting information to our MSAT customers and prospects about the new developments coming from Light Squared, the owner and operator of the MSAT Satellite Network.

Light Squared (formerly, Sky Terra Communications, TMI and MSV) is currently developing the next generation MSAT network, an integrated satellite-terrestrial communications network.

Light Squared's plan starts with the launch of the Next Generation Satellite which occurred early in 2011. This satellite will be the first of two satellite launches planned for Light Squared and the MSAT network. The satellites themselves will be two of the most powerful commercial satellites to have been launched.

With the addition of these satellites, the MSAT network will offer seamless, transparent, and complete coverage of the United States and Canada coverage areas using conventional cell phone sized devices.

Over the next few years, the transition to this next generation network and smaller access devices will unfortunately make some changes necessary for current customers. To make the transition from the old network to the next generation network a little bit easier for the affected group, Light Squared is offering customers some options to ensure they can continue to access the MSAT network with ease:

Current customers may operate current access devices on the new network for a period of time set aside to phase in the new network. This period will conclude in 2015. [more]
A Customer Transition Incentive Program [more] which will subsidize the purchase of an upgraded next generation MSAT access device.
